New York-based Carey Watermark Investors (CWI) has annouanced that Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa has officially joined the Autograph Collection, part of the Marriott International portfolio.

The 173-room resort, which was acquired by CWI in July 2012 and is located 90 miles east of Los Angeles, California, US, has recently completed a $4.6m renovation of its guest rooms, suites, public areas, function spaces, recreation facilities and spa.

The 177,000ft² hotel sits on 9.13 acres of lakefront land and has 162 guestrooms and 11 suites.

The hotel features amenities such as 23,000ft² of indoor and outdoor meeting space, an 8,000ft² spa, an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge, business centre, fitness centre, outdoor pool, and a private beach and dock.

"We believe this affiliation positions the property for future success."

The WATG/Wimberly interiors have given a fresh visual identity, inspired by and respectful of the original style and feel of the property.

CWI CEO Michael Medzigian said that by joining the Autograph Collection, Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa can continue to leverage its name, history and unique location while also benefiting from Marriott International’s powerful distribution channels.

"We believe this affiliation positions the property for future success. In combination with the completion of the renovation and our implementation of bottom-line, service-oriented operational improvements, we have achieved a strategic milestone in our plan to maximise the value of this well-known mountain resort," Medzigian added.

The Autograph Collection is a group of independent hotels, with each destination selected for its quality, originality, rich character and uncommon details.
