Choice Hotels International has expanded its portfolio with the opening of a new Cambria Suites property in Florida, US.

The new Cambria Suites Miami Airport-Blue Lagoon hotel is specially designed for lifestyle travelers. It is owned by local limited liability company Sunflower Hospitality, and operated by Driftwood Hospitality Management.

Choice Hotels International upscale brands senior vice president Michael Murphy said that Cambria Suites continues to experience tremendous growth in top-tier, urban markets and the company is excited at the opening of its first hotel in Miami.

"Sunflower Hospitality and Driftwood Hospitality Management have proven to be phenomenal partners and we’re confident they’ll deliver the Cambria experience at its best – stylish, modern accommodations at a great value," Murphy added.

The six-floor hotel has 122 rooms offering views of Lake Mahar. It features a larger lobby and all-suite guest rooms that are larger than standard hotel rooms. It is a close distance from shopping, professional sports venues, South Beach and the Miami Seaquarium.

All of the suites at the hotel include amenities to keep guest connected, while offering technology and prime entertainment with amenities such as flat-screen LCD televisions and MP3 jacks.

The 85,500ft² property has over 1,000ft² of meeting space, making it suitable for both families and business travellers.

The Miami property also features amenities including Reflect, a bistro serving dinner with local specialties created by Chef Michael DeMaria; Refill, which is a barista bar serves coffee and a hot breakfast buffet; and Refresh, a fitness centre.
