GuocoLeisure Group’s hotel subsidiary glh. has unveiled a new luxury hotel and private residences brand, Clermont, with a gross development value of $3.2bn.
UK-based glh. is set to introduce the Clermont brand on two continents through three developments, including renovation of the already-owned five-star Royal Horseguards hotel in London, and two new management contracts in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Following renovation, Royal Horseguards will be rebranded as Clermont London, and is expected to be launched in 2014.
It is situated opposite the London Eye, between Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament on the north bank of the River Thames.
Clermont Singapore hotel is scheduled to open in 2016 within an integrated mixed-use development, Tanjong Pagar Centre, which is said to be Singapore’s tallest building at 290m.
Clermont Kuala Lumpur is also likely to open in 2016 as part of a mixed development project within Damansara city on a prime freehold site in Damansara Heights.
glh. said it is also venturing into building luxury residential apartments in Singapore and Malaysia, which will benefit from bespoke services delivered by the adjoining Clermont hotels.
Under the Clermont Residences project, the company will build approximately 200 luxury residential apartments in Singapore and 370 in Kuala Lumpur and sell them as private dwellings.
The residential component at Tanjong Pagar Centre (TP180), which will be rebranded to Clermont Residence, is expected to feature the tallest residences in the country, ranging between 180m to 290m tall and offering sea and city views.
Clermont Hotels brand CEO Ed Harding said that each Clermont hotel will provide a luxury hotel experience with consistently warm and personalised service and seamless technology.
"Led by expert general managers, the hotel staff will have a sophisticated understanding of their global guests and their business and leisure needs; sharing insider knowledge of local culture coupled with privileged access to the wonders and cultural richness of each destination," Harding added.
glh. CEO Mike DeNoma said, "The glh. ambition is to open hotels in all of the top 30 global cities and today’s announcement reinforces the scale of this ambition."
