Sinagapore-based GuocoLeisure Group’s subsidiary glh. has launched a new contemporary four-star hotel brand, Amba.

glh. plans to have 2,088 rooms in London under the Amba brand by 2015, and will soon launch its first four hotels.

It also intends to invest a further £70m into the chosen four-star hotels.

Amba’s four hotels will be situated in prominent locations near to landmarks such as Marble Arch, Tower Bridge, Charing Cross and Buckingham Palace Road.

The new brand intends to re-open the four hotels after completing major renovations, with the first Amba hotel likely to open in Buckingham Palace Road by June 2014.

Amba plans to provide smart TV in every room of its hotels, and also Wi-Fi access for all guests.

"An Amba hotel will combine a fantastic location with genuine warmth, intuitive service and technology to ensure that both business and leisure travellers get the most out of their stay."

glh. CEO Mike DeNoma said that the new Amba brand signifies the company’s intent to offer property owners and developers a new deal in the four-star market.

"We want to be the first port of call for developers, owners and investors who want a new deal from a hotel management company," DeNoma added.

glh. is planning to expand Amba to around 30 cities in the UK, and plans are also underway to expand globally in China, Malaysia, and the US.

glh. chief marketing officer Colin Roy said the launch of AMBA signifies a step change in the market.

"An Amba hotel will combine a fantastic location with genuine warmth, intuitive service and technology to ensure that both business and leisure travellers get the most out of their stay," Roy added.
