Holiday Inn, a brand of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), is to open a new hotel, Holiday Inn Rome – Pisana, in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The new property, which will undergo conversion from an existing hotel brand to the Holiday Inn brand, will be the third Holiday Inn property in Rome.

The hotel will be operated by Roma Ovest, part of JSH Group, under a franchisee agreement signed with IHG.

Located halfway between Rome city centre and Rome Fiumicino Airport, the hotel provides guests easy access to historical sites such as the Vatican Museum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum.

The 229-room Holiday Inn Rome – Pisana is ideal for both leisure and business travellers.

"Our increased presence in this region will not only offer travellers a greater choice of hotels and improved flexibility, but will ensure we continue to anticipate the needs of our guests and respond to market demand."

It offers guests free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, seven meeting rooms equipped with the latest audio and visual technologies, two restaurants and a lounge bar.

IHG development director for Italy Domenico Magnati said the addition of this hotel to the Holiday Inn portfolio in Rome is in line with the company’s growth strategy for Europe.

"Our increased presence in this region will not only offer travellers a greater choice of hotels and improved flexibility, but will ensure we continue to anticipate the needs of our guests and respond to market demand," Magnati added.

The owner of Roma Ovest said the company is delighted to be providing new accommodation in Rome, offering business and leisure travellers improved access to one of the most visited cities in Italy.

In Italy, IHG further plans to open four hotels in the next three to five years, taking its total count to 32 hotels in the country.

The Holiday Inn brand family has over 400,000 rooms in over 100 countries.
