Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas, US, will undergo a $35m expansion and renovation, which will be completed in 2013 to coincide with the property’s 20th anniversary.
Spread over 300 acres, the 500-room resort features amenities including Windflower – The Hill Country Spa; a swimming pool and whirlpool, a water park with a 950ft flowing river pool, adult pool, active pool and kiddie pool; and Antlers fine-dining restaurant, Springhouse Cafe, Charlie’s Long Bar Saloon, Cactus Oak Tavern, the General Store and Papa Ed’s Pool Bar & Grill.
The owner of the property, Woodbine Development, is undertaking the renovation. Hardin Construction is the general contractor, HKS Hill Glazier Studio is the architect, and Rialto Studio is responsible for landscape improvements.
In addition to the redesign of the guestrooms, a facelift for the exterior landscaping, and expansion of the water park with a FlowRider wave machine and a tower slide, the renovation project will add additional indoor, pre-function and outdoor function space.
Woodbine Development CEO and president John Field Scovell said, "While much of what this resort offers is about tradition, we want to reward our loyal guests with new experiences and capture group customers who needed more function space than we were able to provide in the past."
The indoor function space, which is currently 35,000ft², will be doubled to 70,000ft², including a 20,000ft² ballroom; a 5,000ft² event lawn will be connected to the new ballroom.
A 7,260ft² landscaped courtyard will also be added during the expansion.
The resort will be extensively landscaped and LED lighting installed in the public walkways.
