InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has expanded its presence with the launch of the first Holiday Inn Express branded hotel in the city of Jakarta, Indonesia.

The new Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin is located in the heart of Jakarta’s central business district (CBD) and in close proximity to shopping and entertainment areas.

Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin has 101 rooms and offers free Wi-Fi and free Express Start Breakfast with a Grab & Go option.

IHG South East Asia and Resorts chief operating officer Clarence Tan said the Holiday Inn Express Jakarta is the second Holiday Inn Express to open in Indonesia in the last three months.

"Jakarta sees more than two million visitors each year and is known as one of the region’s top shopping destinations," Tan added.

"With the new hotel situated on the city’s busiest road, this makes it the smart choice for travellers wanting to stay close to major business hubs and tourist attractions."

Currently, the Holiday Inn Express brand operates over 2,235 hotels worldwide with 210,793 rooms.

Holiday Inn Express Thamrin represents the fifth Holiday Inn Express property in South East Asia, and the second in Indonesia.

The group has previously opened Holiday Inn Express hotels in Semarang, Bangkok, Phuket and Singapore.
