InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the Crowne Plaza Madinah hotel in the Madinah Province of Saudi Arabia.

The new property marks the group’s first Crowne Plaza brand hotel in the Holy City.

Located at the centre of Madinah city near the Masjid Nabawi mosque, the hotel features 506 rooms and suites, including 259 twin standard rooms and 49 king standard rooms.

The hotel also features a multi-functional business centre and five fully-equipped meeting rooms, and offers free internet access throughout the hotel.

Dining options at the hotel include Al Rawdha restaurant, which offers dishes from the Middle East, Indonesia and India; the Fish Market dining area, which offers sea food; and Orchid Café.

Crowne Plaza Madinah general manager Mostafa Blanco said the new hotel will be an ideal destination for religious, business and leisure travellers.

IHG India, Middle East and Africa chief operating officer Pascal Gauvin said, "We have a long history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, having opened our first hotel in the country in 1975, and we’re proud of our commitment to the country."

With the opening of Crowne Plaza Madinah, IHG now operates four hotels in Madinah, including InterContinental Dar Al Iman, InterContinental Dar Al Hijra and InterContinental Dar Al Tawhid.

In Saudi Arabia, IHG has a portfolio of 23 hotels and around 5,600 rooms, making it the largest international hotel company in the country.
