InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) plans to expand its presence in Brazil with the opening of three new Holiday Inn Express hotels this year – the Holiday Inn Express Belem-Ananindeua, the Holiday Inn Express Porto Velho and the Holiday Inn Express Marilia.

Additionally, the group plans to open the new-build Holiday Inn Express Manaus hotel in 2015.

According to IHG, the newly opened Holiday Inn Express Belem-Ananindeua and the upcoming Holiday Inn Express Porto Velho hotels are IHG’s 13th and 14th properties respectively in Brazil.

IHG Latin America and Caribbean chief operating officer Alvaro Diago said that the group is proud to welcome the Holiday Inn Express Belem-Ananindeua to the Holiday Inn Brand Family.

"We look forward to the upcoming opening of the other Holiday Inn Express hotels as well," Diago added.

The new-build Holiday Inn Express Belem-Ananindeua hotel has 156 rooms and is located in the industrial district of Ananindeua and within close proximity to the Hangar Convention and Fair Centre, one of the region’s most well-equipped meeting and convention spaces.

The modern property offers flat-screen TVs, mini bar access, complimentary high-speed Internet and has a 24hr business centre and fitness centre.

The 174-room Holiday Inn Express Porto Velho hotel features complimentary high-speed Internet, a business centre, a fitness centre and three meeting rooms.

"It is very exciting for us to expand the IHG family of hotels in new markets here through these new Holiday Inn Express hotels."

The new 102-room Holiday Inn Express Marilia hotel, located in the state of São Paulo, will house energy-efficient systems, effluent wastewater treatment plans, solar panels and LED lighting in addition to the usual amenities.

The 110-room Holiday Inn Express Rio Branco, located downtown in the city’s business centre, is expected to open in early 2014.

The Holiday Inn Express Manaus hotel, which is slated to open in 2015, will have 180 rooms, a business centre, fitness centre and meeting rooms.

IHG Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean marketing strategic services vice-president Gerardo Murray said that the group has a long and successful history in Brazil.

"It is where the first IHG-branded hotel – an InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property – opened here in 1946, so it is very exciting for us to expand the IHG family of hotels in new markets here through these new Holiday Inn Express hotels," Murray said.
