InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has unveiled Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park in Doha’s banking district.
Designed to target international visitors and Qatari residents alike, Crowne Plaza Doha is owned by the Trans Orient Establishment.
Trans Orient Establishment and UK-based IHG signed an agreement in 2008 and construction on the property began in mid-2009.
Trans Orient Establishment chairman HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, commenting on the opening, said, "Our vision was to develop a hotel that would offer unparalleled meeting and conference facilities and exciting new restaurants for the booming Doha market. This hotel does exactly that and under IHG’s management we’re certain it will be a success."
Located 2km from Doha International Airport, the hotel features 378 rooms – 288 hotel rooms and suites and 90 one to two bedroom resident suites.
Equipped with the latest technologies, the hotel’s eight meeting rooms and executive boardroom allow video conferencing to The Event Centre, a glass-domed meeting venue.
Crowne Plaza Doha has six food and beverage outlets: Rodizio, Brazilian Churrascaria; Misturado, the Brazilian lounge; Aramede, a Mediterranean all-day dining restaurant; Savor, a lounge; Liquidity, a pool-side lounge; and the Crowne Plaza Club Lounge.
The hotel also features a rooftop swimming pool, fitness centre and spa.
IHG manages 390 Crowne Plaza hotels globally, with 22 in the Middle East and Africa.
The company plans to open 130 Crowne Plaza hotels over the next three to five years, seven of which will open in the region.
Besides Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, the other hotel brands owned by IHG include InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, EVEN Hotels and HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts.
IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns over 4,500 hotels and more than 666,000 guest rooms in around 100 nations and territories.
