JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts will open the JW Marriott Austin, the largest hotel in Austin and the largest JW Marriott hotel in the US, on 1 March 2015.
The hospitality group has reached the final construction height for the new 1.2 million ft² hotel following the start of construction in August 2012.
The 34-storey JW Marriott Austin is designed to house large conventions and meetings with over 112,000ft² of event space, 42 meeting rooms as well as 1,012 guest rooms.
Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau president and CEO Bob Lander said, "We are excited to be one step closer to showcasing Austin as a meetings and convention hub for businesses and organisations worldwide."
"To already have more than 280,000 rooms contracted shows the demand for this hotel and the desire businesses have to come to Austin," Lander added.
The hotel, which is located on the square block surrounded by Second and Third Streets and Brazos Street and Congress Avenue in downtown Austin, is estimated to generate more than $16m in taxes annually, up to $6m of which is expected to go directly to the city of Austin.
The JW Marriott Austin, which will employ more than 700 people upon opening, is expected to achieve a LEED Silver certification and two-star Austin Energy Green Building rating.
JW Marriott Austin general manager Scott Blalock said the group looks forward to being in the heart of downtown Austin and offering new restaurants and event space for everyone.
"Having this number of hotel rooms under one roof will allow Austin to bring in conferences and large national conventions for which it could not otherwise compete," Blalock added.
The property will be managed by White Lodging, which already operates 23 other properties in Austin and Round Rock.
