The La Mola Hotel & Conference Center in Spain will be renovated and reopened under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand in early 2013.

Hilton Worldwide has signed a franchise agreement with real estate group Layetana to this effect.

The property is located within the Sant Llorenc del Munt nature reserve at the foot of the Prelitoral Mountain range, 28km from Barcelona.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Center La Mola features 186 guestrooms, a spa with five treatment rooms, a fitness room with cardiovascular equipment, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, and a fine-cuisine restaurant.

The 4,500m² meeting space at the hotel includes 26 meeting rooms, two ballrooms, two 54-seat auditoriums and a video conferencing room.

Layetana CEO Santiago Mercadé said, "The conversion will allow us to become part of a rapidly expanding global brand with a unique sense of style that fits perfectly with the offering we want to develop for both business and leisure guests at La Mola."

Hilton announced the first DoubleTree hotel in Spain, in Emporda, earlier in November; it will be opened by the end of this year.

The group has had a presence in Spain for the last 20 years and currently operates five hotels in Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo and Palma in Mallorca; it has 60 DoubleTree hotels under operation or in the pipeline in 11 European countries.
