Marriott International is to expand its Autograph Collection brand portfolio with the opening of two new hotels in the UK.
Scheduled to open in spring 2013, the two properties are Threadneedles, London and The Glasshouse, Edinburgh, Scotland.
The two new properties will mark the group’s first Autograph Collection brand hotels in the UK.
The former Victorian banking hall and head office of City Bank underwent renovation to become Threadneedles.
Located in the City of London with The Bank of England, St Paul’s Cathedral, Borough Market and The Royal Exchange in the vicinity, Threadneedles luxury boutique hotel features a lobby with hand-painted stained-glass dome and Bonds restaurant and bar.
The Glasshouse in Edinburgh, Scotland, is located at the foot of Calton Hill near Princes Street and Edinburgh castle.
Opened in 2003, the five star hotel was built in the facade of the 150-year-old Lady Glenorchy church and is currently undergoing renovation to re-open under the Autograph Collection label in June 2013.
The hotel features guest rooms and a two-acre roof-top garden for conducting events.
Marriott International Europe managing director Amy McPherson said the company is happy to expand the Autograph Collection brand in two of the UK’s most important destinations.
"Autograph Collection offers an enviable range of artistic, culinary and cultural adventures for our guests and these two iconic hotels will be valuable additions," McPherson added.
The two new properties will expand the Autograph Collection brand portfolio to over 40 hotels in the US, Europe, Caribbean and South America.
In Europe, the brand operates Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel in Portugal, Hotel De Bourgtheroulde in Rouen and the Hotel L’Hermitage Gantois in Lille.
The Autograph Collection also plans to enter Germany with the Hotel am Steinplatz scheduled to open in 2013.
