Marriott International, a Maryland-based lodging firm with over 3,800 properties in 74 regions, is to deploy MICROS Systems’ OPERA property management system (PMS) across all its properties worldwide.

The newly developed PMS manages the daily activities of any sized hotels.

The cloud-based system can handle daily operations such as hotel reservations and bookings, accounting, billing, and others.

"Having used MICROS OPERA in our international properties, we are confident it is a superior solution for our properties in North America as well."

MICROS OPERA PMS is highly customisable and can be configured according to the hotel’s requirement, claims the company.

The PMS has advanced interface capabilities that allow hotels to increase productivity, drive sales and increase profits.

Marriott International global property management systems vice president Kermit Littlefield said the company selected the cloud-based MICROS OPERA for its stability, functionality and mobility.

"Additionally, having used MICROS OPERA in our international properties, we are confident it is a superior solution for our properties in North America as well," Littlefield added.

MICROS Systems executive vice president Thomas Patz said, "MICROS OPERA provides Marriott the most advanced PMS solution in the industry, allowing Marriott to further innovate its business and enable memorable connections with its guests."

Maryland-based MICROS Systems provides property management systems, central reservation and customer information solutions for over 30,000 hotels worldwide.

The company has currently deployed over 370,000 MICROS systems at hotels, motels, restaurants, casinos, leisure and entertainment and retail operations in more than 180 countries across the globe.
