Marriott International is planning to enter the Bolivian hospitality market by opening a new Marriott Hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in 2016.
The new hotel will represent the company’s first venture in the region, and will be developed by Empresa Hotelera Icon and operated by Marriott International.
Empresa Hotelera Icon board president Carlos Saavedra said: "We are very excited about our new partnership with Marriott and the opportunity to establish the Marriott Hotels brand’s footprint in Bolivia.
"With the success of the brand across Latin America and around the world, we are confident that this hotel will be highly successful and play a large role in the continued emergence of Bolivia."
Located on the Cuarto Anillo in the heart of the Equipetrol neighbourhood, the Marriott Santa Cruz de la Sierra Hotel will be in close proximity to the highest concentration of office buildings, as well as a new shopping centre currently under construction.
Marriott Hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra will have 174 rooms including guest rooms and suites, a three-meal-a-day restaurant, and a lobby bar.
The hotel will also feature meeting space of about 2,400m² and recreational facilities including a swimming pool, a fitness centre as well as amenities like a club lounge, business centre, gift shop and parking garage.
Marriott International Caribbean and Latin America president Craig Smith said: "This is a very exciting time for Marriott in Latin America. We recently announced our goal to double our portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America by 2017 and are thrilled to now be expanding into Bolivia with our new partners.
"With this project, not only are we bringing more hotel rooms to the Bolivian market, but doing so in a vibrant city like Santa Cruz de la Sierra which is experiencing a large growth in business and leisure tourism."
Marriott International Caribbean and Latin America chief development officer Laurent de Kousemaeker said: "We are confident that this beautiful hotel will be highly successful and open the doors for more development opportunities in Bolivia and the surrounding markets in South America, as well as play a large role in the continued emergence of Bolivia."
