The Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre hotel in the UK has implemented the Pro-B Air system and Pro-B Cleaning, supplied by Pro-B For Life, on a trial basis.

The property is said to be the first hotel in the UK to implement the probiotic hygiene and cleaning system, which will help it to reduce the use of harmful chemicals and its carbon footprint.

Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre hotel general manager Neil Raw said that the hotel is always looking at ways of reducing its carbon footprint.

He said by using the Pro-B system, the hotel’s commitment to the corporate ‘Think Planet’ campaign is brought to the fore.

"The technology helps to improve the hotel’s cleanliness while decreasing the odours and allergens in the building, claims Pro-B For Life."

Pro-B Air, which is installed in the air-conditioning system, controls and distributes probiotic material through the ventilation system, by spreading good bacteria and reducing bad bacteria in the hotel atmosphere. The level of yeast and mould is also reduced.

The technology helps to improve the hotel’s cleanliness while decreasing the odours and allergens in the building, claims Pro-B For Life.

The Chrisal PIP Environmental Enhancer technology used in the Pro-B Air system is recognised by Allergy UK and won the Allergy Friendly Product Award this year.

Implementing the Pro-B Cleaning system, the hotel has equipped the housekeeping service with green detergents, enzymes and probiotic bacteria for microscopic clean, prevention and elimination of odours.

Raw said that the results so far have impressed the staff and the guests with a marked difference to the overall environment, with odours eliminated from the kitchen and gym areas, for example.

"This benefit transcends across the hotel, with bedrooms, corridors and public areas continually exuding a ‘fresh’ and ‘clean’ smell and that stability was clear within just a few weeks of implementing the new systems," he added.
