Raffles Hotels & Resorts is planning to build a new hotel which will occupy the top floors of an 80-storey tower in the new One Shenzhen Bay development in Shenzhen, southern China.
The new hotel will have around 200 guestrooms and serviced residences, four restaurants and bars, private meeting and event spaces for business meetings and social gatherings, as well as a Raffles Spa.
One Shenzhen Bay will be developed by Parkland Real Estate Development. It will have a gross floor area of around 470,000m², combining office space, luxury residences, high-end commercial space, and the 338m-tall signature tower.
International firm KPF will undertake the design and architecture work on One Shenzhen Bay.
Raffles Hotels & Resorts president Peter French said that developments such as One Shenzhen Bay will enable the city to play a leading role in international trade, shipping, tourism and finance.
"With Raffles properties in the key Chinese destinations of Beijing, Hainan and soon Shenzhen, I am very excited about our luxury hotel brand’s growing presence in China and see additional opportunities for future growth in the country," French added.
Raffles Shenzhen, which is only 30 minutes’ drive from Central, Hong Kong, will likely be opened in 2018.
Raffles Hotels & Resorts recently opened Raffles Hainan on 1 September 2013 and Raffles Shenzhen will become its third hotel in China.
Parkland Real Estate chairman Xu Hang said that Raffles, one of the top luxury hotel brands in the world, has a high standard in the selection of locations and owners.
"The signing of Raffles Shenzhen at One Shenzhen Bay is underpinned by a shared appreciation between Parkland Real Estate Development Co. Ltd and Raffles Hotels & Resorts for location selection, comprehensive strength, operation concept and quality," he added.
