UAE-based Rotana Hotel Management will expand its presence in Saudi Arabia with the opening of a new hotel, Rosh Rayhaan by Rotana Hotel, in Riyadh.
Located in Olaya Street, the hotel will have 236 rooms and suites along with guest facilities that include a health club, ballroom, meeting centres, and four restaurants providing Arabic and international cuisines.
Rosh Rayhaan by Rotana will be the company’s second property in the region and is scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2014.
Rotana president and CEO Selim El Zyr said that the Saudi hospitality sector continues to enjoy strong growth based on religious tourism, which currently constitutes 75% of all passenger traffic in the kingdom.
"It is in this prospering economic climate that we are confidently implementing our expansion plans with a commitment to giving Saudi youth the opportunity to play their part in the development of the national economy in general and the hospitality sector in particular by providing them with training and career development within a working environment that stimulates the culture of creativity, innovation and excellence," El Zyr added.
As part of its strategic move into the relatively new mid-range and budget hotel sector, Rotana will open four hotels under the Centro Hotels by Rotana brand in Riyadh, Al-Khobar, Dammam and Jeddah.
Previously, the company opened its first hotel, Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana, which is located on the right side of Al-Bait Towers project, in Makkah.
Rotana’s expansion plans will likely add more than 4,100 new hotel rooms and suites, alongside creating around 1,500 jobs in the Saudi hospitality sector.
