Starwood Hotels & Resorts has officially opened the Le Meridien Oran Hotel & Convention Centre in Algeria.
The hotel, owned by Algeria-based Sonatrach, is part of a mixed-use development, which includes an adjacent conference and exhibition centre, an esplanade and an oceanfront promenade.
The 254-room Le Meridien Oran Hotel & Convention Centre with 42 suites has been designed by Rockwell Group Europe.
Le Meridien Oran also offers a restaurant with an open kitchen and a lounge bar, in addition to nearly 30,000ft² of meeting and event space, including two ballrooms, a pre-function area and 23 meeting rooms.
The convention centre also houses an auditorium, which can seat up to 3,000 guests. The hotel also has a newly-developed Le Meridien Hub for both guests and locals.
According to Starwood, the hotel’s spa includes eight treatment rooms, a jacuzzi, Turkish Hammam, an outdoor pool, and a fitness centre.
Starwood owns three hotels in Algeria, including the Sheraton Oran Hotel & Towers in Oran and the Sheraton Club des Pins Resort & Towers in the capital city, Algiers.
Le Meridien, represented by 100 properties in 50 countries, was acquired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide in November 2005, and has close to 80 of its properties located in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
