Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has launched a new Westin brand hotel, the Westin Portland Harborview, in Portland, Maine.
Owned by Rockbridge and managed by New Castle Hotels & Resorts, the new hotel is located at 157 High Street in the heart of Portland and represents the state’s first Westin hotel.
The hospitality group invested $50m in an 18-month restoration and renovation of Eastland Hotel prior to reopening it under the Westin brand as The Westin Portland Harborview hotel.
As part of the renovation project, the public spaces at The Westin Portland Harborview were redesigned to reflect their earliest incarnation. The Top of the East rooftop lounge, with its panoramic views of the harbour and downtown Portland, was restored and expanded, and the ballroom was also restored.
Westin Portland Harborview has 289 guestrooms and suites, two dining outlets and a day spa, and offers all of the brand’s signature amenities.
The property has a new day spa, Akari, a signature WestinWORKOUT gym with New Balance gear lending and running maps, and two restaurants – C2, named for the hotel’s Congress Square location, and Top of the East, the highest point in the city, open nightly for cocktails and light meals.
Rockbridge CEO Jim Merkel said the company is excited to revitalise the hotel and reintroduce it as a Westin while maintaining its rich history.
"The Westin Portland Harborview will be a top lodging destination along the eastern seaboard and will serve as the anchor for downtown Portland’s historic Arts District," Merkel added.
All of the guestrooms and suites feature the Westin Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath with the brand’s Heavenly Shower, Heavenly Robe and White Tea by Westin Aloe bath amenities, in-room and high-speed Internet access.
Westin Hotels & Resorts and Le Meridien global brand leader Brian Povinelli said, "The Westin Portland Harborview offers travellers the chance to rejuvenate in a scenic, waterfront setting while enjoying all Westin brand’s signature programmes and amenities, designed to send them home feeling better than when they arrived."
