Starwood Hotels & Resorts and its brand Aloft Hotels have announced the signing of Aloft St. Petersburg in Russia.

The 200-room Aloft St. Petersburg, which is owned by Remstroyintour and Ludmila Kudryavtseva, is set to open in 2015.

Starwood Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) Division president Roeland Vos said the company was happy to partner with Remstroyintour and Ludmila to open the first Aloft hotel in Russia.

"The signing of Aloft St. Petersburg underlines Starwood’s continued commitment to expanding our portfolio of mid-market brands in Russia and throughout Europe," Vos added.

All guest rooms of the hotel will feature the brand’s oversized windows and a platform bed as well as walk-in showers with Bliss Spa products.

The new hotel will also offer the re:charge fitness centre, a grab-and-go food and beverage area and two board rooms, equipped with audio-visual hardware, which would be suitable for work meetings, training courses and presentations.

Aloft St. Petersburg will feature public spaces where guests can mix and mingle, read the paper, work on laptops, play a game of pool or grab a drink.

Starwood, which has 1,112 properties in nearly 100 countries, currently operates three hotels in Russia, including Hotel National, a Luxury Collection Hotel and the Sheraton Palace Hotel in Moscow, as well as the W Hotel in St. Petersburg, which was recently opened.
