Germany-based hospitality group Steigenberger Hotels has announced plans to develop a new hotel under its InterCityHotel brand, the InterCityHotel Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
Slated to be completed by 2017, the new hotel is already under construction and is expected to appeal to both leisure and business travellers.
InterCityHotel Rotterdam will have 180 rooms, each at least 20m² in size.
The hotel will also have 440m² of conference facilities featuring five rooms and a pre-function section for meetings and events, while a restaurant and a 162m² Bistro Lounge will serve the culinary needs of its guests.
Steigenberger has selected the architectural firm Dam and Partners Architecten of Amsterdam to design the new building.
According to the hospitality group, the new location is a good match for the company’s expansion strategy.
Weena Boulevard, a subsidiary of the Rotterdam-based company LSI Beheer, is the owner and developer of the hotel.
Frankfurter Steigenberger Hotels CEO Puneet Chhatwal said that Rotterdam is an important industrial and commercial centre.
"This makes it the perfect site for an InterCityHotel brand establishment," Chhatwal added.
Steigenberger Hotels currently operates 97 hotels across Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Egypt and China, including 12 properties in the planning phase or under construction.
