Hotel occupancy in the US increased by 1.5% to 64.4% for the week ending 8 October 2011, according to STR Global.

In year-over-year comparisons for the week, the average daily rate (ADR) rose by 2.8% and revenue per available room (revPAR) increased by 4.3%.

Occupancy in Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Virginia, rose by 8.8% to stand at 56.8%, Dallas, Texas, registered 8.5% increase to 67.6% and Anaheim-Santa Ana, California, recorded an 8.4% rise to 74.5%.

New Orleans, Louisiana, Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida, posted occupancy decreases of over 5% by 8.3% to 69.3%, 6.1% to 60.3% and 5.2% to 57.8%, respectively.

ADR for San Francisco/San Mateo, California, increased by 40.6% and Miami-Hialeah’s ADR rose by 10.8%.

The largest ADR decrease was registered by Atlanta with 9.2% followed by Orlando with 8.5%.

San Francisco/San Mateo achieved the largest revPAR rise of 41.8% followed by Dallas with a 19% increase and Miami-Hialeah with 17.9%.

Atlanta, Orlando and Washington reported double-digit revPAR falls of 14.7%, 13.3% and 10.8%, respectively.
