California-based Viceroy Hotel Group plans to open a new hotel in Manhattan, New York, by September 2013.

Located on West 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, the 29-storey Viceroy New York will feature 240 luxury guestrooms, a double-height lobby, public spaces, a rooftop food and beverage venue and a restaurant.

"We believe the Viceroy brand, which embodies innovative design and superior guest service, will bring a hotel experience highly desired in New York City."

Developed by Ark Partners and designed by Roman and Williams, the Viceroy New York is expected to bring the feel of a downtown hotel through its façade and interiors, which are being detailed with crafted metals and classic woodwork.

The façade of the hotel will blend classic modern elements with bold, traditional rhythms in a network of black brick and steel.

Viceroy Hotel Group CEO Bill Walshe said that the hotel will stand apart from its competitors.

"Our first Viceroy branded hotel in the city has to be exceptional, and this development is quite simply perfect," Walshe added.

Ark Partners chairman Brad Reiss said that the company’s aim was to deliver a luxury hospitality product in an iconic building, embodying the Golden Era of New York.

"We believe the Viceroy brand, which embodies innovative design and superior guest service, will bring a hotel experience highly desired in New York City," Reiss added.

Viceroy Hotel Group is a boutique and luxury hotel management company with two collections of properties – Viceroy Hotels and Resorts and Urban Retreats – spread across the world.
