The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.89% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.18% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.81% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 67.74% in August 2022, registering a 44.74% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 19.35% share, an increase of 140% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 6.45%, registering a 63.64% decline from July 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.45%, up 33.33% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 34.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s travel & tourism industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Genting Group posted 28 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 133.33% over the previous month, followed by Capital A with 20 jobs and a 67.21% drop. Genting with 12 IT jobs and A.P. Moller – Maersk with 1 jobs, recorded a 45.45% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Booking Holdings recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.61%, down by 38.46% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 37.1% share, registered a decline of 4.17% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.29% share, down 63.16% over July 2022.
