Marriott International has signed an agreement with New Development Group, a multinational group company, to launch the EDITION Hotels brand in Dali, China.
EDITION, a collection of individualised hotels, aims to provide a luxury lifestyle experience by balancing design and innovation.
The Dali EDITION, the brand’s third property in China, is expected to open in December 2025, with the aim of setting a new standard for the luxury hotel market in Yunnan Province.
Marriott International president for Greater China Yibing Mao said: “We are thrilled to be working with New Development Group to bring the EDITION Hotels brand to Dali, inviting travellers to indulge in the local culture and traditions of the unique Bai ethnic folklore.
“The signing highlights our commitment to strengthening the presence of our luxury portfolio in Greater China as part of the ‘Brand + Destination’ development strategy. We will continue to strategically expand our footprint and match brands with complementary destinations to cater to ever-changing guest demands.”
The city of Dali is located on a plateau at an altitude of 2,090m between Cangshan Mountain to the west and Erhai Lake to the east.

Guests at the hotel will have easy access to public transportation, including Dali Fengyi Airport and Dali Railway Station.
Situated near local attractions such as Three Pagodas, Dali Old Town, Dali Stone Mountain Golf Club and Cangshan Mountain Scenic Area, the hotel will allow its guests to enjoy cultural, natural and recreational activities.
The hotel will feature 150 rooms, including suites and villas with private pools, offering views of Erhai Lake or Cangshan Mountain.
It will also feature four signature restaurants and bars serving food and beverage options that reflect the region’s culture.
Additionally, it plans to provide a recreational activities centre, a fitness facility, a spa and a swimming pool, as well as event and conference venues, which includes a 600m² outdoor lawn.
This deal marks the growing luxury profile of Marriott International in Greater China, where it has 70 hotels.
