US-based hotel investment company RLJ Lodging has acquired the Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Historic District in South Carolina, US, for $42m from Noble Investment Group.

The 176-room hotel, which was temporarily closed for renovation and conversion, operated as a Holiday Inn until late 2010 and reopened as a 123-room Courtyard by Marriott in March 2011.

In October 2011, a new tower was completed at the hotel, adding 53 guestrooms and 2,100ft² of meeting space.

RLJ Lodging now has 141 properties spanning 20 states.
