Hotel occupancy in the US increased by 6.8% to 61.6% in year-on-year comparisons for the week ending 29 October 2011, according to data by STR Global.

The industry’s average daily rate (ADR) increased by 4.7% and revenue per available room (revPAR) ended the week up by 11.8%.

Nashville, Tennessee, registered a 24.9% increase in occupancy to 71%, the largest rise in the metric, followed by St Louis, Missouri-Illinois, with a 19.2% climb to 64%.

Washington, District of Columbia, registered a decrease of 8.3% in occupancy to 75%, posting the largest fall in the metric.

St Louis, Nashville and San Francisco / San Mateo, California, reported ADR increases of 20.6%, 17.8% and 16.6%, respectively, while Boston, Massachusetts, posted the largest ADR fall of 3.1%.

Nashville registered a revPAR rise of 47.2%, St Louis 43.7% and San Francisco / San Mateo 27.3%, while Washington’s revPAR fell by 9.7%.
