IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered a management agreement with Chentoor Hotels to develop the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Madurai, which is expected to open in early 2029.
Situated near Madurai International Airport, the new property will offer 150 rooms, including 30 suites.

The project represents IHG’s continuing focus on expanding its presence in South India, particularly in secondary markets.
A Chentoor Hotels spokesperson said: “We are proud to collaborate with IHG Hotels & Resorts to introduce Holiday Inn Express & Suites to Madurai.
“Backed by IHG’s global reputation, strong brand systems and proven operating excellence, we are confident that the hotel will deliver an elevated guest experience and become a preferred choice for travellers visiting Madurai.”
According to IHG Hotels & Resorts, Madurai experienced more than 27 million visitors in 2024, driven by its significance as a pilgrimage site. The city is home to the Meenakshi Amman Temple.

IHG Hotels & Resorts currently manages 51 hotels across six brands within India, which include Crowne Plaza, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses, and voco Hotels.
The company has an additional pipeline of 89 hotels scheduled for opening over the next three to five years.
