The hotel offers 38 bedrooms, a bar, a lounge, indoor and outdoor dining areas, function facilities, a gym, a spa, and a swimming pool.

The grounds feature gardens, patios, and a Japanese garden that serves as a setting for outdoor weddings.

The building’s origins as a boarding school have given way to a substantial hotel since its conversion in the 1970s.

Having undergone renovations and improvements under its current ownership, Oriel House is now being sold with vacant possession, with Christie & Co associate director Tom O’Malley handling the sale.

O’Malley said: “This sale presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator to acquire a closed hotel which requires little to no investment and is ready to start trading immediately.”

The freehold asking price for this expansive property is set at £1.8m ($2.26m).

In contrast, The Townhouse, situated in Durham, offers a hospitality experience with seven en-suite bedrooms, each with its unique theme and amenities.

The property includes a welcoming reception area, a bar, and a 30-cover restaurant that caters to both the public and guests.

Located near Durham’s historic castle and cathedral, The Townhouse is surrounded by shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants.

Christie & Co Hotels director Mark Worley is managing the sale of this centrally located hotel.

Worley said: “This is a great opportunity for a buyer to acquire a stylish hospitality business in the centre of this beautiful and historic city, with its stunning castle, the picturesque River Wear, and the jaw-dropping cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, all within a short walk.

“As well as being a huge draw for tourism, Durham also boasts a highly regarded university, which helps to further swell visitor numbers, and the Townhouse is perfectly positioned to take full advantage.”

The Townhouse is on the market with a freehold asking price of £1.2m plus VAT.
