Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has increased its presence in South Korea by launching its first managed hotel and initiating two new development projects.

The company has opened the Wyndham Goseong Gangwon, a 529-room hotel located near Seoraksan National Park.

Additionally, Wyndham Hotels has finalised agreements for the development of Howard Johnson by Wyndham Seoul, which is projected to start operations in 2028, along with Wyndham Busan, expected to open in 2030.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts APAC operations regional vice-president Ben Schumacher said: “South Korea’s booming tourism market presents a compelling opportunity for Wyndham, which is why we’re focused on strategic expansion and strengthening our presence through high-calibre additions like Wyndham Goseong, Gangwon.

“With global scale, an industry-leading loyalty platform, and deep local expertise, Wyndham has a proven record of helping owners not only drive performance, but generate long-term value while delivering exceptional guest experiences.”

The hotel, located near Bongpo Beach and Seoraksan National Park, is intended to accommodate leisure tourists, families, and groups involved in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).

The expansion by Wyndham coincides with the ongoing resurgence of the tourism sector in South Korea, which is supported by robust domestic travel and a steady increase in international arrivals.

Additionally, Wyndham has been active in the Asia-Pacific region, having introduced its Baymont brand in November 2025 with the opening of a new hotel in Yunnan, China.

Located in the central business district of Kunming, the property marks the first Baymont establishment outside of the Americas.

Over the past two years, Wyndham has enhanced its operations in South Korea by introducing new brands and operational strategies. This includes the launch of Wyndham Grand in 2023 and the upcoming Trademark Collection by Wyndham in 2024.

The initiatives contribute to an existing portfolio that comprises 30 hotels and more than 9,200 rooms across various brands, including Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada Hotel & Suites, Trademark Collection and Wyndham Grand.
