Spain’s Meliá Hotels International is taking an education-first approach to one of the hospitality sector’s most pressing problems — the shortage of skilled workers.
The company manages hotels across 23 countries and has reached its target of operating 50 hotels by 2025.
With the opening, the Sunshine Coast will see its first internationally branded new-build hotel in almost 40 years.
The hotel adopts energy-efficient systems and renewable sources as part of IHG’s wider strategy to lower carbon emissions.
The 227-room property was acquired by Loci Capital in 2021 and underwent upgrades before the sale.
