International hospitality group Accor is solidifying its position in India's booming tourism industry.

Following a record year in 2023, the company plans to unveil new hotel signings and openings throughout 2024.

Landmark year in 2023

Accor signed eleven hotels in India in 2023, demonstrating its commitment to catering to a wide range of travellers.

This included properties such as the Fairmont Agra and the Pullman Amritsar, alongside the midscale Novotel Bengaluru Airport Varun.

Accor opened six new hotels, adding almost 1,000 rooms to its portfolio.

These included Novotels in Mumbai, Jaipur and Jodhpur, along with a Grand Mercure in Agra and ibis locations in Mumbai and Goa.

Expansion plans for 2024

Accor currently operates 62 hotels in India. Its brands include luxury names such as Raffles and Fairmont, as well as midscale and budget-friendly options.

In 2024, the company plans to further diversify its portfolio with six new hotels in the premium, midscale and economy segments, alongside three new luxury and lifestyle properties.

The first half of 2024 will see the opening of Raffles Jaipur, a luxurious hotel aiming to redefine elegance in Rajasthan's capital city.

For discerning travellers seeking a premium experience, the Grand Mercure Goa Candolim will also open in the second quarter of the year.

Accor remains aware of the needs of budget-conscious travellers, and openings planned for the Mercure Chandigarh and the ibis Styles Mysuru demonstrate the company's commitment to providing quality and affordable accommodation options throughout India.

Accor's Novotel brand is also expanding its footprint in India. Three new Novotel hotels will open in key cities during the third quarter: Goa Panjim, New Delhi City Centre and Bhubaneshwar.

Strong commitment to India

Sébastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of Accor, emphasised Accor’s commitment to India's growth potential in a statement.

“We, at Accor, are resolute in our commitment to this dynamic and rapidly changing nation, where every hotel opening and signing stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication and desire to help positively shape a prosperous future for the country.”

With its ambitious expansion plans, Accor is poised to play a significant role in India's vibrant tourism sector.
