Hilton has unveiled plans to open its first Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in the seaside town of Portrush, Northern Ireland.

Expected to open in 2025, the 83-room Marcus Hotel Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will be operated under a franchise deal with property management company Andras House.

The Marcus Hotel will turn a Victorian structure, which was previously a hotel and artisan bakery for more than 85 years between 1895 and the 1980s, back into a hotel with a renovation project, which will cost £11m ($14.15m).

Andras House director Rajesh Rana said: “We understand the importance of this building to the town of Portrush. With so much history and fond memories created here over the years, our architects and designers have responded by developing a scheme that will complement the old with the new.

“We will start work in September 2023 and this investment of £11m will undoubtedly be a flagship project for the area.”

The new Marcus Hotel Portrush will also include a café, a bar and a restaurant.

The nearby attractions include the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the Giant’s Causeway on the Atlantic coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In a separate development, Hilton signed a management deal for the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico, a recently renovated oceanfront hotel anticipated to open in November of this year.

It features 459 ocean-view rooms and 81 suites, along with five different dining options, a pool grill and a coffee shop.

The hospitality company has also just opened Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone in the UK.
