Hyatt Hotels has confirmed plans to increase its presence in Portugal, with four new properties scheduled to open across the country by 2027.

The expansion aims to triple the number of Hyatt-branded hotels in Portugal, following recent launches in Lisbon and Madeira.

The development plans comes as international visitor numbers to Portugal are expected to reach record highs this year.

The upcoming hotels include the introduction of two new lifestyle brands to Portugal: Andaz and The Standard.

Andaz Lisbon is slated to open in early 2026, marking the debut of the brand in the Portuguese market. It will offer 170 rooms and suites and various dining options, including a rooftop restaurant and terrace lounge, and a fitness centre.

The Standard, Lisbon, which will be located in the Palácio Santa Clara above Alfama, is also set for a 2026 opening. The property will feature 197 rooms and suites, a rooftop terrace and a spa.

In addition to these developments in Lisbon, the company plans to expand its Hyatt Regency brand with two more properties.

Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve will be situated near Vilamoura Marina and local golf courses, providing over 250 rooms and suites alongside several dining venues and outdoor areas.

Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal will become the first Hyatt hotel in Cape Verde on the island of Sal to accommodate both business and leisure travellers.

Hyatt Iberia development regional vice-president Helena Burstedt said: “Portugal continues to be a key focus for Hyatt’s brand growth in Southern Europe. Combining rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes and modern infrastructure, the country is increasingly attractive to both leisure and business travellers.

“With a growing focus on iconic lifestyle brands in Lisbon like Andaz and The Standard, our Lifestyle Portfolio sets the benchmark for immersive hospitality, delivering bold design, vibrant dining, and unique cultural programming.

“As Portugal matures as a market in the hospitality and residential investment space, we are excited to expand our portfolio and bring our diverse portfolio of brands to more destinations that matter to our guests, members and owners.”

The expansion plans respond to increased foreign investment within Portugal’s hospitality sector and escalating demand for new accommodation options, said the company.
