IHG Hotels and Resorts has collaborated with Odom Living to debut its Vignette Collection brand in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Expected to open in 2027, the Vignette Collection Phnom Penh Odom will be the company’s second property in the country after the opening of Six Senses Krabey Island.

The new hotel will feature 50 rooms and suites, along with other amenities including a lobby lounge, a fitness centre and a rooftop bar. It will also boast two restaurants, a swimming pool, a members-only private club and four meeting rooms.

The hotel will be situated near many international embassies, international businesses, Cambodian government agencies, as well as non-governmental organisations.

IHG’s first collection brand, Vignette Collection, has expanded quickly in Southeast Asia.

Last year, the company opened Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok, Vignette Collection in Thailand.

The Dinso Resort and Villas Phuket, Thailand has also been rebranded later this year, with two more hotels added in the Aquatique Pattaya and Bangkok Chinatown.

IHG Hotels and Resorts South East Asia and Korea development vice-president Patrick Finn said: “Vignette Collection is IHG’s newest Luxury and Lifestyle brand, and is already growing quickly in many markets.

“Since launching in 2021, Vignette Collection has opened six properties in destinations including Brisbane, Bangkok, Porto and Washington and [has] grown a pipeline of 15 outstanding hotels.

“Over the next 10 years, we anticipate a rapid expansion of Vignette Collection, reaching 100 properties globally, attracting guests who seek authentic, experiential and considerate stays.”

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
