Spain-based hotel chain Meliá Hotels International has signed an agreement for a new property in Ha Long, Vietnam.

The new hotel, named Meliá Ha Long Bay, is expected to open in 2027 and will feature 240 rooms and 302 serviced apartments across two towers.

It will offer various amenities, including four restaurants and bars, an indoor swimming pool, a palm tree-lined outdoor swimming space with man-made islets and the brand's signature YHI Spa.

Meliá Hotels International Asia Pacific managing director Ignacio Martin said: “Ha Long Bay and its archipelago of limestone karsts are one of the natural wonders of the world and a thrilling vantage for our hotel group.

“With this addition to our portfolio, our guests can visit popular destinations from North to South and know they'll receive the Spanish warmth and hospitality that our brand has become famous for wherever they are in the country.”

Meliá Hotels International has a total of 23 hotels in operation and in the pipeline.

The new property will be owned by Hanoi Halong Tourism Company, a member of Vietnamese-based investment company IDS Equity Holdings, which has a hospitality portfolio across Vietnam.

Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is said to be a popular tourist destination in Vietnam.
