Tapestry Collection by Hilton launches in Harlem, New York

The George at Columbia hotel features 139 guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Global hospitality group Hilton has opened its new The George at Columbia hotel, under its Tapestry Collection brand, in Harlem, New York, US.

The George offers 139 rooms with views of city streets and its pool deck and courtyard through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The property also includes a terrace lounge, lobby bar, a fitness facility, high-speed Wi-Fi available at no extra cost, and 2,000ft² of meeting space.

A heated outdoor pool is expected to open in summer 2026, with two full-service restaurants scheduled for spring 2026, stated Hilton.

Located near Columbia University, the new hotel is positioned close to several cultural sites, including the Apollo Theater, Studio Museum, Morningside Park, and the National Jazz Museum.

Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand leader Elizabeth Scruggs said: “There is always something unique to discover at every Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel, and The George is no exception.

“It's authentic connection to the community, clever namesake and warm, welcoming design make it a gathering spot for guests and locals alike in one of Manhattan's most vibrant, storied neighbourhoods.”

The George participates in Hilton Honors, the company’s guest loyalty initiative, offering instant member benefits for those booking directly through Hilton’s preferred channels.

The hotel takes its name from both George Snowden, a noted figure in Harlem’s dance history, and King George II, who authorised Columbia University’s charter in 1754.

The George at Columbia Sales and Marketing regional director Andrew Nkunku said: “The George is more than a place to stay: It is a neighbourhood hub. Through local hiring, community-focused programming, and welcoming public spaces, we've built something rooted in Harlem's history.”

Hilton recently launched Outset Collection, its 25th brand, designed to meet demand for boutique hotels.
