Adjacent to landmarks such as the Lima Cathedral, Plaza de Armas, and the Government Palace, the hotel is situated on the Casa de la Pila site, a former intellectual hub and home to the Thalia Club from the 17th to 19th centuries.

The restoration of the space is currently being overseen by restorer Cirilo Bernui Tafur.

The Meliá Collection is known for its hotels that embody local spirit and heritage. In line with this, the Lima hotel will introduce a cultural programme.

Meliá Hotels International chairman and CEO Gabriel Escarrer Jaume said: “The signing of the Meliá Collection in Lima is another step in our growth strategy in Latin America, focusing on destinations with strong tourism potential like the Peruvian capital.
