IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has entered into three franchise agreements for new-build Holiday Inn Express hotels in Spain, in collaboration with alternative asset manager Tikehau Capital.
The three hotels, totalling 653 rooms, in Madrid, Málaga and Barcelona are the first properties confirmed under Selecto, a new select service platform launched by Tikehau Capital in partnership with Quest Capital.

In Madrid, Holiday Inn Express Madrid – Julián Camarillo is planned for the MadBit technology district and will comprise 244 rooms.
Once completed, it is expected to become the largest Holiday Inn Express property on the Iberian Peninsula.
The hotel is set to incorporate the brand’s fifth-generation (Gen 5) design, along with an outdoor pool and fitness facilities.
Opening is targeted for the first quarter of 2028 (Q1 2028).
Meanwhile, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Málaga – Palacio de Congresos will feature 259 rooms, of which 52 will be suites.
The property will feature an outdoor swimming pool, sun deck, fitness area and Gen 5 public spaces. Its launch is planned for Q1 2029.
Following completion, it will join Holiday Inn Express Málaga Airport and Staybridge Suites as IHG’s third hotel in the city.
In Barcelona, Holiday Inn Express Barcelona – Fira will provide 150 rooms close to Fira de Barcelona. The property is scheduled to open in Q1 2029.
It is expected to take IHG’s portfolio in the wider Barcelona area to 12 hotels.

IHG currently has more than 20 Holiday Inn Express hotels in operation in Spain, with four additional properties under development.
IHG recently signed an agreement to open four hotels in Italy.
