Minor Hotels has unveiled plans to open an Avani-branded hotel in the Malaysian state of Sabah in the first quarter of 2027.
The 352-key property, Avani Kota Kinabalu, will mark the entry of the Avani brand into Sabah.

It will also function as the hospitality component of The Logg Luyang, a mixed-use development by KTI Landmark.
Located approximately ten minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the hotel will be positioned to serve both business and leisure travellers.
Avani Kota Kinabalu general manager Winston Gong said: “Kota Kinabalu is evolving rapidly as a regional business and tourism hub, creating strong demand for a hotel that can move easily between corporate, leisure and social use.
“Our focus will be on delivering an efficient, locally relevant guest experience while building a property with genuine appeal to the city’s residents.”
The hotel has been designed by Shah Architect, with landscape architecture by SD2 and interiors by INdulge.
Avani Kota Kinabalu will include five dining and social venues open to hotel guests and the local community.
The all-day dining restaurant will serve Sabahan, Malaysian, Korean and international cuisine, while a separate Chinese restaurant will focus on Sabah Hakka cuisine and regional flavours.
The Lobby Lounge will operate as a meeting space during the day and shift to an evening venue offering afternoon tea, cocktails and whiskies.
The Pantry will provide bakery items, desserts and coffee for on-site dining or takeaway.
On the rooftop, SEEN Restaurant & Bar will serve as a rooftop dining and nightlife concept.
The property will also include meeting and banquet space for conferences, weddings and other events.
Additional facilities will include an infinity pool and an AvaniFit gym. The nearby Tun Fuad Stephens Park will provide guests with access to outdoor recreational space.
With this project, Minor Hotels expands its presence in Malaysia, where it currently operates Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas in Johor.
