In Rotorua, the existing Arawa Park Hotel Rotorua on Fenton Street is slated for a 12-month refurbishment programme before reopening in late 2027 as the Rotorua Marriott Hotel.
In Auckland’s central business district, the operator will convert a heritage property on Eden Crescent into The Official Auckland, Autograph Collection.
Scheduled to open in 2028 with 82 guest rooms, the site will represent Marriott’s fourth hotel in the city.
The portfolio expansion also includes Fable Wellington, Autograph Collection, which is scheduled to open in 2029.
The 118-room development involves the adaptive reuse of a 1940s office building.
Upon completion, the site will join CP Group’s existing collection of five Fable properties across the country.
The three signings will also expand Marriott’s operating footprint across the North Island.
The latest agreement builds on the ongoing partnership between Marriott and CP Group following their recent collaboration on the St Regis Queenstown development.
Marriott International Asia Pacific excluding China president Rajeev Menon said: “Along with Australia and the rest of the Pacific, New Zealand is an important growth region for Marriott International, and this agreement with CP Group reflects our strategy to bring our brands and distinctive experiences to more destinations across the region.
“The planned debut of Marriott Hotels in Rotorua—the traditional cultural hub of New Zealand and the Autograph Collection in the vibrant cities of Auckland and Wellington will broaden the choices available to guests while showcasing the unique character of each destination.”
Marriott currently operates two properties in New Zealand: the JW Marriott Auckland and Four Points by Sheraton Auckland.
A further two sites, namely Sheraton Christchurch and Moxy Auckland, are scheduled to launch in 2027.
