A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11663929B2) describes a heart model retained in a container for a catheter simulator. The heart model includes a simulated blood vessel, while the container features an accommodating unit for holding a liquid, side walls, and a bottom surface. The container also has a connection unit attached to one of the side walls, which retains the heart model. Additionally, an installation part is provided on one of the side walls, allowing for the insertion of a catheter into the simulated blood vessel of the heart model from the outside of the container. The connection unit includes a holding protrusion that protrudes inside the accommodating unit and has a communicating hole. The heart model can be detached and reattached to the holding protrusion by inserting and extracting a terminal of the heart model. Importantly, the holding protrusion retains the heart model in a floating state in the liquid, ensuring that neither the holding protrusion nor the heart model come into physical contact with the bottom surface.

The heart model described in the patent can take various forms. It can be a four-chamber heart model made from an elastic material, consisting of a right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle, and featuring a support unit connectable to the connection unit. Alternatively, the heart model can be formed from an elastic material with coronary arteries on its surface and an inflow tube that can be connected to the connection unit. Another embodiment of the heart model is a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation model, which includes a main body made from an elastic material, an aorta protruding into the interior of the main body, an aortic valve positioned at the end of the aorta, and an inflow tube that can be connected to the connection unit. The aortic valve in this model has valve cusps with markers, and it is detachable and reattachable. The detachable and reattachable aortic valve includes valve cusps, a cyclic annulus part at the bottom of the valve cusps, and a left ventricle outflow path unit that serves as a handle during detachment and reattachment. The patent also describes the structure of the annulus part and the aorta, which includes inner and outer rings with protrusions for connection. The heart model can have markers for position adjustment of the aortic valve to a predetermined position of the aorta. Additionally, the heart model can have a surface coated with the same material used for forming the heart model, and it can be integrally formed without any artificial joints, except for the aortic valve in some cases.
