Asia-Pacific witnessed a 7.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.33% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.89% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.75% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 53.15% in September 2022, a 2.51% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 18.44% in September 2022, marking a 13.33% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 15.18% in September 2022, a 37.25% rise from August 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 10.41% in September 2022, a 33.33% rise over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 45.9% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during September 2022 over previous month.
A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 99 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 19.28% over the previous month, followed by Booking Holdings with 63 jobs and a 34.04% growth. The Walt Disney with 41 IT jobs and Genting with 36 jobs, recorded a 28.13% rise and a 200% rise, respectively, while Uber Technologies recorded a 211.11% increase with 28 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 44.03% share in September 2022, a 21.56% increase over August 2022. Malaysia featured next with a 13.02% share, down 3.23% over the previous month. Thailand recorded an 11.71% share, a growth of 58.82% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.34%, up by 12.74% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.31% share, registered a decline of 2.2% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 17.14% share, up 11.27% over August 2022.
