Global hospitality group Minor Hotels, in partnership with Kajima Development and Al Wathba Investment, has disclosed the start of construction of its inaugural Avani hotel in Singapore.

This 14-storey lifestyle property will cater to both domestic and international travellers, and is anticipated to open its doors in the second quarter of 2027.

The ground-breaking ceremony took place at 24 Peck Seah Street.

Al Wathba Investment managing director Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi said: “We are honoured to be part of this milestone occasion.

“This ground-breaking marks more than just the start of the construction – it represents a shared vision of creating a distinctive hospitality experience that embodies the spirit of Singapore and the strength of our collaboration.” 

Situated in the district of Tanjong Pagar, the upcoming Avani hotel will feature 200 guest rooms and integrate the shophouse district’s local heritage with the brand’s modern style.

Amenities will include an AvaniFit gym, a pool deck, various dining options, and a pedestrian connection between Peck Seah and Tras Street.

Kajima Development CEO Shuichi Oishi said: “This groundbreaking reflects our continued commitment to Singapore and our confidence in the long-term growth of its hospitality scene. Its strategic location near Tanjong Pagar MRT Station and Maxwell MRT Station will offer convenient access to Marina Bay, the Downtown Core, and other significant areas.

With a portfolio of more than 640 properties in 57 countries, Minor Hotels continues to expand the Avani brand, which now boasts over 40 hotels worldwide.

Earlier this year, the group announced the introduction of the Avani brand to India with a planned property in Visakhapatnam.
