Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a new Gateway hotel in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

The 180-key property will be a greenfield project within a mixed-use development in Bibvewadi, an area known for its infrastructure and commercial development.

The Gateway hotel will be situated near Pune’s city centre, offering guests easy access to the area’s industrial and service sectors.

Guests of the new hotel can access a variety of culinary experiences, including an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and a speciality restaurant.

The property will also feature recreational facilities, including a gym and a swimming pool.

For business and social events, the hotel will provide 4,000ft² of banqueting space, along with smaller meeting rooms and pre-function areas.

IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “Pune, a key city in the state of Maharashtra, has a diversified industrial and service sector presence with IT, pharma, and auto manufacturing.

“Bibvewadi, an emerging micro market in the city, is witnessing rapid growth driven by infrastructure and commercial development as well as its proximity to educational and residential hubs. This signing aligns with our strategy of expanding IHCL’s footprint in high-growth urban clusters.”

The company and its subsidiaries operate a collection of brands, including the Gateway brand, known for its full-service hotels.

IHCL’s portfolio encompasses 400 hotels, with 151 in the pipeline worldwide across 14 countries.

Earlier this year, IHCL launched a Taj property in Alibaug, Maharashtra, which features 156 rooms.
