IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has signed an InterContinental property on Deansgate Street in Manchester, UK.
This development marks the fifth InterContinental in the UK and Ireland portfolio for IHG and is expected to be fully rebranded by 2027.

Owned by Blue Manchester Hotel, the 264-room hotel will remain operational for guests.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Europe development vice president Willemijn Geels said: “The signing of InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate marks a significant milestone in our UK&I development strategy as we bring the world’s first and most iconic luxury hotel brand to an important city in the UK.

This expansion is part of IHG’s broader strategy, which includes 363 open hotels and 33 in development across the UK and Ireland.

By GlobalDataThe Deansgate property will join IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which currently comprises 27 open hotels, encompassing four other InterContinental properties in the region.
Strategically located for business travellers, the hotel will offer proximity to Manchester’s main conference centre and Spinningfields, the city’s financial and professional services district.
Occupying 22 floors of the 47-storey Beetham Tower, the hotel will offer amenities such as a podium bar and restaurant, an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and a fitness centre.
With guest rooms offering views of the Manchester skyline and 18 meeting rooms, the hotel is poised to cater to both leisure and corporate guests.

The upcoming InterContinental property in Manchester will join the 34 existing properties across Europe and nine pipeline properties, including the InterContinental Belgrade, which signifies the brand’s return to the country of Serbia after two decades.
Earlier this year, IHG also unveiled significant expansion in the UK and Ireland, finalising agreements for eight new hotels.
