Ssangyong Engineering & Construction and Besix have been contracted to build a new $1.4bn Royal Atlantis resort on the Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai, UAE.
The Royal Atlantis Resort and Residences will be constructed for the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) at next to the existing Atlantis resort.
Designed by architect Kohn Pedersen Fox, the 46-storey resort will feature 780 guest rooms and suites.
A Ssangyong E&C spokesman was quoted by The Korea Times as saying: "It is very meaningful for us to secure a construction project in Dubai again, our first deal in 13 years."
"The city is full of skyscrapers and dozens more will be built in the coming years. We were able to secure mega projects base on our advanced knowhow and expertise in constructing artistically-shaped, high-rise structures over the years.
"We will continue to win more deals in the UAE and nearby Middle Eastern countries."
