Accor has entered a partnership with InterGlobe, which is the largest stakeholder in the IndiGo airline, to expand its branded hotels in India to 300 by 2030.

The collaboration merges Accor's extensive hotel management expertise with InterGlobe's travel and hospitality knowledge. The alliance is set to create a unified platform, with investment in the budget-hotel platform Treebo.

IndiGo operates a fleet of more than 400 aircraft and manages 2,200 daily flights while Accor currently boasts a portfolio of 71 hotels in India and has an additional 40 in the pipeline.

A central feature of the agreement is the establishment of an autonomous entity dedicated to managing Accor's hotel development within India.

This entity will be responsible for overseeing the growth of all Accor brands, including those under Ennismore, while Accor retains control over operations and brand management.

Through a master licence agreement, Treebo will spearhead the development of Ibis and Mercure hotels in the country.

This collaboration between Accor and Treebo has already resulted in the signing of ten new Mercure hotels and is set to position them as India's "third-largest hospitality player", offering a portfolio of more than 30,000 rooms.

Accor chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin said: "This landmark partnership marks a transformative moment for Accor and its brands in India.

"By aligning with our long-term successful and trusted partner InterGlobe and bringing together the best of hospitality, tech and entrepreneurship in India, we are unlocking unprecedented growth potential in one of the world’s most exciting travel markets”.

The alliance aims for an estimated 7% GDP growth in India.

InterGlobe Enterprises group managing director Rahul Bhatia said: “At InterGlobe, we have always believed in our commitment to building meaningful and enduring relationships with both our partners and the guests we serve. Today, I am delighted to further strengthen our two-decade-long association with Accor through this strategic partnership.

“Together with InterGlobe’s deep market insights, Accor’s world-class services, India’s dynamic growth and evolving travel landscape, we aim to redefine the hospitality experience by offering exceptional value to our guests and setting new standards for excellence in the industry.”
