Thailand operator Centara Hotels & Resorts has reported progress across all areas of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities.

The company has stated its ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible business practices within Thailand's hospitality sector.

As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, Centara has launched the C-E-N-T-A-R-A Sustainability Blueprint.

This strategic plan outlines development goals across seven specific areas viewed as crucial for sustainable progress within the company.

The blueprint sets the direction for future projects and places environmental management at the core of Centara's business model.

The company said its operations are based on principles that focus on Thai hospitality, innovation, values, and environmental awareness.

The company continues to develop its sustainability framework with the intent to deliver measurable outcomes for guests, local communities, and the environment.

Since 2009, Centara has implemented environmental management initiatives as part of its approach to ESG.

Centara Hotels & Resorts chief executive officer Thirayuth Chirathivat said: “Business growth must go hand-in-hand with responsibility toward society, the environment, and the communities we serve.

"Achieving GSTC [Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC] certification across all properties and making strong progress in reducing waste and emissions demonstrates our long-term commitment to environmental stewardship. We remain dedicated to innovating and advancing our ESG initiatives to create a meaningful, lasting impact, while providing exceptional, sustainable travel experiences for generations to come.”

Centara has listed several achievements and milestones during its 16 years of work focused on sustainability.

Among the company's actions are the removal of single-use plastics in guest service areas and obtaining GSTC certification for all 42 Centara properties across the globe.

Centara has set a target to reduce its emissions intensity by 40% by 2029, as part of its broader objective to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
